How to Join

Sub Tube Missile

Students should start the application process as soon as possible. For students in high school, the application process for the 4-year NROTC Scholarship can be started as early as January of your junior year. To start the application, go to the following website:

https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/application/default.cfm


The application contains a section titled "College Preferences and Current Studies," and asks for your top five college choices. In order to maximize your chances of being assigned to the IIT NROTC Unit, indicate IIT as your first choice and a strong desire to attend.

City Class

Admission to IIT is a completely separate process from the NROTC scholarship application process. Students should contact the admissions office at IIT for further information, or go to the following link to apply:

Cake Surface Commissioning

Scholarship applicants are required to complete a Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) physical exam. When your application has been completed, you will receive a post card from DODMERB instructing you to schedule a physical exam. Once you have received this post card, please contact the DODMERB National Appointment Scheduling office.

To maintain mobility in a mountainous environment, Mountain Warfare Training involves a lot of hiking with all of the unit's gear. The training shows Marines how to overcome any obstacle they might see in a mountainous environment.
