Student Life

Our students, known as "Midshipmen" are full-time students at Illinois Institute of Technology preparing to become officers in the Navy or Marine Corps. They enjoy all the benefits and responsibilities of other IIT students with the added advantage of belonging to our team.

Campus Leadership
Members of NROTC are leaders in many organizations on campus. Some of our current midshipmen are sorority/fraternity presidents and vice presidents, varsity sports team captains, club members, and members of cutting edge independent research teams. One current student is being paid for his research into increased jet engine efficiency, a DARPA funded project.
